Simple Rituals to Reset Your Energy This Summer!

ree

Summer is finally here, and oh boy, did we need it! If you're anything like me, you’ve been counting down the days until you can ditch the heavy coats and soak up some Vitamin D. But with all the sunshine and fun, sometimes we forget to pause and check in with ourselves. It’s a great time to get grounded, support your nervous system, and gain mental clarity. So, let’s talk about resetting our energy, summer-style. And remember, this isn't a strict "do this or else" guide; it's more of a "hey, here are some ideas, feel free to mix and match and make them your own!"

Grounding Goodness: Reconnecting with Earth

ree

Sometimes, life feels like a runaway train, right? That’s when we need to get grounded. Here are some ideas that help me (and might help you too!):

  • Barefoot Adventures: Kick off those shoes and feel the grass, sand, or even good ol’ dirt beneath your feet. It's amazing how a simple connection to the earth can bring you back to center. Try walking in a park, along a beach, or even just in your backyard.

  • Tree Hugging (Yes, Really!): Okay, maybe not full-on hugging, but spending time near trees is fantastic. Find a shady spot, lean against a tree, and just breathe. Bonus points if you can identify the type of tree!

  • Gardening Therapy: Digging in the soil, planting flowers, or even just watering your plants can be incredibly grounding. It’s a tangible way to connect with nature and watch something grow. Don’t have a garden? No problem! A small pot with herbs on your windowsill works wonders.

  • Find a Stream or Lake: Even just sitting by water can bring you peace. Try finding a local stream or lake, sit by it, and just listen. If you can safely put your feet in the water that is a bonus.

  • Your Idea: Think of a grounding activity unique to you! Maybe it's spending time in the woods, collecting rocks, or simply sitting and listening to nature sounds.

Nervous System TLC: Soothing the Soul

ree

Our nervous systems work overtime, especially when life gets busy. Let's give them some love:

  • Breathwork Bliss: Simple breathing exercises can work wonders. Try the 4-7-8 method: Inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, exhale for 8 seconds. Or just take a few deep, slow breaths whenever you feel overwhelmed.

  • Gentle Movement: Think yoga, Tai Chi, or a leisurely walk. Anything that gets your body moving without feeling like a high-intensity workout. It’s about feeling good, not burning calories (though that’s a nice bonus!).

  • Nature Sounds: There is something magical about listening to nature sounds. Look them up on YouTube or find an app. Sometimes the sounds of rain or the ocean waves are just what my nervous system needs.

  • A Warm Bath: There is nothing that relaxes my nervous system more than a bath filled with Epsom salts and some essential oils (I like lavender). I light a candle and get lost in the moment.

  • Your Idea: Is there something that makes you feel relaxed? A hobby, a song, or a small treat that isn't food. Use this time to relax and calm your nervous system.

Mental Clarity Magic: Clearing the Cobwebs

ree

Sometimes our minds get a little cluttered. Let's clear out those cobwebs and create some mental space:

  • Morning Pages: Grab a notebook and write whatever comes to mind for a few pages. Don't worry about making it perfect; just let the thoughts flow. It’s like taking out the mental trash.

  • Mindful Walks: Go for a walk without your phone. Just observe your surroundings: the trees, the birds, the sky. Notice how you feel without judgement.

  • Meditation (Even 5 Minutes Counts!): You don't need to be a meditation guru. Even a few minutes of sitting quietly and focusing on your breath can make a big difference. There are tons of great meditation apps out there if you need a guide.

  • Creative Outlets: Painting, drawing, writing, dancing. Anything that gets your creative juices flowing can help clear your mind.

  • Your Idea: Maybe you like organizing, cleaning a specific area, or solving puzzles! Find something that is mentally stimulating to you that brings you clarity.

Your Reset, Your Way

The most important thing to remember is that your reset is YOURS. There’s no right or wrong way to do it. Feel free to mix and match these ideas, try new things, and find what resonates with you. Listen to your body and your intuition. What do YOU need right now?

Summer is a time for joy, relaxation, and reconnecting with ourselves. Let’s make the most of it by taking care of our minds, bodies, and souls. And if you see me hugging a tree, just keep walking (or join in!).
